About Floristique
Hello my name is Elaine. A struggling mother of two (now in my 40s!) I have worked for other people all my life but never developed a trade or skill I could use for myself. I made the decision to study floristry at Kingston Maurward College and am now a qualified florist. Some of my compatriots now have their own shops and some are on the competition circuit but I decided to stick with freelance work as well as trying to make it easier for people to get into the floristry business, hence the starter kits and student support facility.
Floristry Supplies for Students
When I was studying I only needed small amounts of materials but found that to get any decent prices I had to buy in bulk like a florist does. The only places I could find smaller quantities was either in the garden centres or the florists themselves and these were mostly pre-packed and expensive. For example, 3 frogs and 10cm of fix for £2.79! I don't think so.
"I wanted to make it easier for other people to get into floristry. It is a wonderful craft which you can use as a hobby or a business and it is completely transferable - that is it does not matter where you live, there is always a market for your skills".

Our Starter Toolkits
This is our first toolkit. We wanted to create one that did not just contain obvious products but useful tools and starter materials as well. We have included some new products such as the foliage stripper and wire storage tube that don’t seem to feature in other kits and a Dutch Flower Book which was my bible as I was studying and will almost certainly
be useful to
you. And, exclusive to Floristique our FREE florist knife protector and product advice sheets. As we develop we will have a range of toolkits and also offer a unique online build-your-own-toolbox facility.
You will have noticed that we have not included a couple of items which other kits always include. Well our intention, at the suggestion of our tutor advisors, is to provide a cost effective starter option. So we have not included an apron as most of you will buy one from your college and non-college students and home arrangers could use an old one of their own to start with, although we will soon have our own ‘Floristique’ apron. Another item we have missed out are the secateurs which are expensive. You might have a pair already and any cheap pair would be OK for foliage.
